In search of something shiny I revisit the Lucky Cat at the Wallgate Chippy. Last of the earlies before a couple of days off. Team have been having fun whilst getting the job done. A better day but not ideal. Last call just before I leave means it’s tight for the train. I jump a bus home.
Food from the chippy. Try ringing Beck because it’s her birthday, no answer.
From Below leads me to the bridge at the station. It’s a place I’ve photographed sporadically because I love the industrial nature and lines it offers.
Odd day, no idea how it finished up but I do know I have a phone to code in the morning so that’s not too bad. Still struggling with HBB but did a regrade. Another cycle to work, came back on the bus. Phone C from below on the double decker she lets me know who I’m feeding.
Elsie has apparently been sleeping most of the day. C is worried.

Cycle in today, nice wee ride in the rain, the glasses definitely need the addition of windscreen wipers. Quick change of plan to go to the top of the Mill to take this. Escherisc view of the stairs from above.
Day starts slow, then improves and then slows down again. Dash back home to be back for C’s appointment at the hub. Hop on the bus and wait in the surgery. We get seen and then have a 20 minute wait for the next bus.
Tea from the Chippy, ’tis Steven’s birthday and he’s been for a curry with his Dad and Ryan. That’s cool. Meanwhile Elsie has been paddling in the sink bowl and has orange paws. Apparently she was indignant as Ryan used baby wipes to clean her paws.
Day off. Day starts with me taking the piss… literally to the GPs. Whereupon NHS IT strikes, they have to hand write the sample form because the printer is dead. On the way up a couple of photos. Need to look at them to see if they are prompt suitable. Jump a bus back home.
Herself off work, still recovering from Asthma attack. Take a wee dander to get a photo for tomorrow in the afternoon.
Pump up the tyres and sort rear reflector on the bike. Usual day off preparation for first early of the week.
In other news there is some movement on the Roots allotment situation. They’ve announced it will be 16 minutes away from Ashton… presumably by car, ‘cos perish the thought you wouldn’t have a car. As long as it’s reasonable cycle ride, I’m in! Looks like a £40 upfront then for a baby patch about a tenner a month. Not looking for anything huge, it’s not like I have a clue what I’m doing! As much as anything it’s a healthy thing to do on a day off for the old mental health.
C still crook, had a rough nights sleep, get up manage to trip the fuses with the toaster, make coffee and that at least offers a moment of rest. Sort out the fuses, and C comes downstairs to tell me off. Nip to the shop for water for C and job’s a good ‘un. Slowly sort the roast after a sarnie for lunch.
First day off and I’ve big plans for the day, lots of tidying up but a wee kip. Rudely interrupted by a call from herself, she’s had an asthma attack so it’s onto the bus for me to fetch her from school. Totally changes the nature of the day. Slip into carer mode. Nip for a pint. As I’m in the pub Ash asks for bonus slips. Something is up.
OK and I’m running late. Grab coffee and sarnies and take photo of a sign I saw the other day that made me laugh out loud, people are so feral. Day went better than the last couple.
